Original Gallery Woodcuts by Jacqueline Byars - $400 each (unframed)
40th Anniversary Fundraiser for the Eastern Southland Gallery
This original woodcut depicts the front entrance of the Eastern Southland Gallery. It was created using the Japanese key-block technique which involves multiple colour blocks and a ‘key’ block that ties together and completes the artwork. Jacqueline produced this work in May 2024 to celebrate the Eastern Southland Gallery’s 40th Anniversary. In acknowledgement of this, there are 40 prints in the edition.
50% of the proceeds from these woodcuts go towards ongoing Eastern Southland Gallery projects. Each image measures 210mm x 297mm (unframed).
Original 'Old Hokonui' Lithographs by Dick Frizzell - $200 each (framed)
Fundraiser for the East Gore Art Centre Project
We have had some very generous support from prominent artist Dick Frizzell, who with Frans Baetens and Magda van Gils at Muka Studio, produced a suite of original ‘Old Hokonui’ lithographs. While resident at Henderson House in Alexandra last year he signed and numbered a selection of them and these have been generously donated for our fundraising efforts. Signed by the artist, matted and framed (black or white), these are now available from the Gallery for $200 each. Email the Gallery if you would like to purchase one.
Each lithograph measures 360mm x 280mm (framed). Frame not shown in picture.
Original 'Church' woodcuts by Jacqui Byars - $80 each (unframed)
Fundraiser for the East Gore Art Centre Project
Purchase one of the very first artworks to be printed at the new East Gore Art Centre. Jacqui Byars has produced a variable edition of this woodcut for us. She has also produced another view of the church in two colourways. These signed and editioned woodcuts are $80 each (unframed), and all proceeds go to the East Gore Art Centre project. Email or call the Gallery if you would like to purchase one.
Each woodcut measures 215mm x 150mm (unframed).
Splendours of Civilisation Book - $40
The John Money Collection at the Eastern Southland Gallery with text by Michael King.
Splendours of Civilisation not only tells the heroic story of how the John Money Collection came to be housed at the Eastern Southland Gallery in Gore, it also shows the collection in all its magnificence.
The late Michael King re-acquainted himself with John Money while carrying out research for
his biography of Janet Frame. This in turn led him to explore the patronage of this extraordinary
New Zealander. In this, his last published work, Michael King documents Money’s life and places
him within the generation of twentieth-century artists, writers, composers and academics who
helped weave the cultural fabric of New Zealand.
Beautifully illustrated throughout, Splendours of Civilisation is a dazzling portal into Money’s, and Eastern Southland’s extraordinary national treasure.
